Research Project

Elaine has completed her PhD on sexual desire in men. The initial quantitative research was an exploratory study of the range of sexual desire in men with a convenience sample of 337 men throughout Australia - a big thank you if you participated! The initial results were presented at the World Congress of Sexology Congress in Brazil, September, 2013; and the Australasian Institute of Sexual Health Medicine (AISHM) conference in November, 2013.

The second part of the thesis involved qualitative research. The purpose of this study was to further assess explore how men and their partners perceive, interpret and define sexual desire; to further investigate the various factors that inhibit or enhance desire; and to further explore the relative distress and concern experienced by the respective partners.  Again Elaine wishes to express her sincere gratitude to all those who shared their insights and experiences.

Further presentations and discussion of the findings were presented at national and international conferences in 2014 and 2015, and publications are pending.
